Clint Zold - Bushtucker (The Ballad of Shannon and Andy Jones)
Переглядів 420Рік тому
I wrote this song about a story told to me by a cowboy I met in Alberta. He was an Australian who got his start herding cattle as a 'Ringer'(term for cowboy in Oz) in the Northern Territory. He was driving a big herd alongside an very old Aborigine(Blackfella in Oz slang) back then who was always giving him grief in the way men in tough jobs tend to do. Over time they became friends and eventua...

An original of mine. Lyrics below... Here I sit in my own mind again Knowing time's a circle, not a line And we're all just spinning Round and round and round Our fancy lives don't mean a thing And I have to wonder, what does it mean When all my trying, all my crazy dreams Fall away Fall away And all that's left inside this bone and flesh and blood Is a longing for the sunrise to find Me, next ...

With Alberta behind me, I wanted to give a little farewell tune to the west. Couldn't think of anything better than a traditional cowboy song.

A tune I wrote in my twenties about getting bitch-slapped by life post-highschool haha. Still not in perfect singing/playing shape but hope you enjoy it regardless. Lyrics below... All my life I've always had a home Woke up this morning, found myself alone No one to care No one to tell me how Only questions, no answer now Called my friend, I had him on the line He said, I'd like to help but I a...

3 Day Walleye Fishing Camp-Out

The dog and I return to the outpost site and spend some time dialing in on spring Walleye in one of my remote lakes. I also got to really put my new powerbank by IGNIGHT to the test and have to say I really love it. They approached me with their product over a year ago and I agreed to test it and, if I liked it, share it with you all. If you're looking for a powerbank already, I can vouch for t...

Out On The Trapline - Winter of 2020
Переглядів 2 тис.2 роки тому
Last winter, Nanook and I spent the majority of our time sleeping out and trapping the southeast corner of my trapline on foot. It was all new territory for me at the beginning of the season, but by winter's end every nook and cranny felt like an old friend. I sure wish I had filmed more while I was out there, as some health issues have kept me from being able to be in the bush this year. Putti...

    If you spend a lot of time alone , you find out who you are... And thats when you determine if you like who you've become ... And at that point you make changes within yourself to become the person you aspire to be.... A married man sees himself in that frame work... A father , the same.. But until you spend months alone , you may not know what your true identity is... Im retired & spend most of my time alone & after some time I realized I like being alone ... I was never a loner , but I am truely content alone in the woods , on a lake , or hiking a trail... Mother earth has the power to heal the human soul...

      Most people don't realize that dogs are pack animals that want to be together. As long as they see you as the Alpha, or leader of their group they will follow you and have fun doing it, trusting you to know best and to keep them well fed. It's pretty simple. No training at all. Just respect and trust. Be a strong leader and don't break their trust and they will be loyal and obedient. I think a lot of folks in the western world have unintentionally made their dogs feel like they are the leaders of the household, so they don't respect their human masters. Anyhow, that's always been my philosophy. Cheers friend. Happy new year!

    I am super impressed with you and your respect for the animals you trap. I am an older retired trapper and understand a bit of the lifestyle you have chosen. Just a thought, do you have the room to make a small loft opposite from the wood stove.? This would give you some additional storage space while maximizing living space.

    • @ClintZold
      @ClintZold 8 місяців тому

      Howdy. Thought about that! I like the aesthetic of it being open everywhere, and also keeping the fleas outside of my sleeping area haha I'm building a workshop for all of my gear, machine and trapping/skinning stuff.

    • @billwilliams1842
      @billwilliams1842 8 місяців тому

      @@ClintZold Totally understand about the skinning and IF there any residue drops/oils that land of the floor. Remember Godliness is next to cleanliness. The idea of having another building would help so much with the trapping end along with having extra storage. Question: Are you concerned about predators destroying your property? Another random thought, when thinking about the loft, this project would keep you busy during the winter doldrums.
